Hey there! If you haven’t read yesterday’s post, go ahead and check it out now for a rundown on the six-part series I’m doing, and a review of the overall formula of Kylie’s Lip Kits.
Today, we’ll talk a little bit about Dolce K!
Welcome to Part 1 of the 6 part series! During a recent restock of Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits, I was finally able get my hands on ALL SIX! I’ve been so excited to share them with you all, and now, the time has come.
Berry Me 2? More like Bury Me, Too! Okay, I know that dad joke was lame, but seriously! I get more and more irritated every time I try to wear this lip color from Dose of Colors.
And I said, “What about breakfast at Tiffany’s?” ?
That song always comes to mind when I see Tiffany Blue! I love this shade because it’s a perfect hybrid of femininity and masculinity. Whether you’re sporting the iconic color with clothing, jewelry, or on your face, it’s sure to be eye-catching!
When I saw promos for this lipstick, I knew I’d have to have it. I hadn’t purchased any Jeffree Star lip colors before, but I’d heard great things about the quality of the formula. More importantly, I recently re-established my crush on Jeffree after watching a YouTube video featuring him and NikkieTutorials. What a throwback to the days of Myspace! I even saw Jeffree live with Warped Tour in 2009 or 2010. Am I showing my age yet?
When the package arrived at my doorstep, I didn’t even give the delivery man time to drive away before I opened the door and greedily grabbed it. Normally, I have a queue of products lined up to review, but I pulled this sucker out of the box and put it on immediately!
The packaging is cute, and I really liked the doe-foot applicator. Shockingly, what impressed me most wasn’t the outside, (as you know, I’m a sucker for cutesy) but the inside! I’m talking about the formula, of course. Breakfast at Tiffany’s applied with such precision and opacity that it looked perfect almost instantly. The texture is soft and velvety, which is a welcome difference from a lot of matte liquid lipsticks on the market right now.
In the photo above where I’m wearing the shade, I first lined my lips with Pool Boy from OCC. This does make it photograph a little bluer, so you’ll get the truest color impression from the swatch on my hand.
The color is gorgeous and super daring – so if you’re not a Bold Betty, it definitely isn’t for you. If you do love your lipsticks with lots of color and a side of fun, be warned that I think this is a limited edition release.
I know it’s early, but I can say for sure that this formula is one of my very favorites. Just a heads up, Jeffree’s instant cult-classic neutral shade Androgyny is re-stocking Feb. 12th. Make sure you get your hands on it before it sells out again!
Now that you’ve seen a fantastic liquid lipstick, stay tuned for a review of a popular formula that could use vast improvement. See you soon!
I have to admit – when I heard the name of this product at it’s launch last year, I was skeptical.
Who wants their lip colors to melt? As a Texas-born girl, this has happened to me numerous times after accidentally leaving a favorite lipstick in the car on a 103 degree day – and it is heartbreaking to open up that tube of lipstick, hoping against hope that it is intact, only for the color to drip out all over you as soon as the cap is removed. The word “melted” itself brings to mind a beautiful color turning clown-like in the humidity after bleeding into every fine line you didn’t know you had. So much for using a straw ever again!
Upon trying these colors, I was more than pleasantly surprised at the texture, wear-time, color payoff and just sheer comfort that they provide. Liquid-to-matte lipsticks are insanely huge right now. When walking into Sephora, for example, you can find them from multiple brands: Stila, Kat Von D, Sephora’s house line, Make Up Forever, ect. This is not to mention some cult favorite brands like Anastasia, who has a dazzling color range, and the unique shades found from Jeffree Star and Dose of Colors. It’s not a new concept, but somehow Too Faced has done it best! In my opinion, of course.
How many times have you tried one of these lip formulas, only to feel like your lips have so much moisture sucked out that they feel like they’ve been vacuum-sealed? Often, my lips crack and turn to dust at the mere sight of matte lipstick. The second that I swiped one of these on, I was shocked! The formula really does melt onto the lips, but in a very comfortable, nourishing way. The round, soft, spongy applicator is much different than the standard doe-foot, but still manages to be precise with placement. I can get a 4-5 hour wear out of these without the color becoming uneven, and even longer if you don’t mind a slight fade. Another bonus: Melted Nude is one of the only nudes out there that doesn’t make my super-fair skin look sick. Melted Violet (pictured) is a beautiful, trendy, warm purple that looks great across a variety of skin tones, and I can already forecast that Melted Berry will be a fall staple this year.
Check these out at Sephora.com and other fine retailers – happy shopping! Remember: You can NEVER have too many lip colors.
