USA! USA! USA! Are you guys as enthralled with the Summer Olympics right now as I am? This evening may be the first time ever that I’ve had a hard time focusing on makeup because I was so busy watching sports!

While the world is focused on international competition, I’m keeping an eye on an international designer named Chris Chang, who curated a beautiful collaboration with MAC. While this collection launched in May, none of the products are yet sold out on MAC’s website.

That means this gorgeous purple, called Plum Princess, is still available for purchase if you’ve got $20 burning a hole in your pocket!

Do you have a case of the Mondays? Let me cheer you up with a recap of a couple of the MAC x Brooke Candy collection lipsticks that launched earlier this summer!

“Candy is my name, but there’s nothing sweet about me!” – This lyric from the club rapper’s hit song ‘Das Me’ is evidenced in her collaboration with MAC. The packaging is edgy, the colors are unexpected, and the products are befitting of anyone from a neighborhood trap queen, to a demure girl-next-door.

“Am I in love with you? Or am I in looooove with the feeling?” 🎶

With Halsey’s limited-edition MAC lipstick, it’s both! The lyrics above are in reference to her song collab with Justin Bieber, by the way.

Are you a die-hard Halsey fan, or has she not made her way onto your radar yet? If you don’t know much about her, please read this amazing Rolling Stones interview . If you don’t have that kind of time to dedicate, just know that Halsey is a beautiful, bold, unique young artist that is currently blazing her way through the often cookie-cutter music scene.

Sounds like a perfect partner for MAC, right? This Halsey collaboration came about as part of a larger collection called Future Forward, which contained 4 pieces designed by influential women considered to be redefining the music industry. Other collaborators were Lion Babe, Tinashe, and Dej Loaf (who I LOVE, but I wasn’t crazy about her contribution, which was a nude gloss).

Go Old Hollywood with MAC X Charlotte Olympia

If you haven’t heard of Charlotte Olympia’s line before, she is a British shoe and accessory designer who’s collections are very reminiscent of pin-up and Hollywood glamour. Her collaboration with MAC included these two lipsticks, amongst other things, in a gorgeous (no surprise) special packaging!

I ordered Leading Lady Red and Starlett Scarlet when they launched and received them a couple days later, but I haven’t been able to review them because the swelling in my lips after the injections made it impossible to wear lipsticks this last week.

Thankfully, these were worth the wait!

MAC New-to-Me Classics

I posted a teaser on Instagram earlier, and now here’s the real thing!

Instead of talking about Spring newness tonight, I want to share with you some of my newly discovered MAC classics! The shades you see here are lipsticks Angel and Snob, and lip liner in Whirl.

First of all, why didn’t I already own these?! The short answer is that I sometimes get so obsessed with collecting everything that’s limited edition, that my focus stays shifted away from permanent products that are always readily available.

Finally, sometime last month I found myself perusing a MAC counter and thought I’d grab them to see if they were truly staples.

Dita Von Teese is the physical embodiment of class and seduction – she’s beautiful, she’s empowered, and she’s a lady. Can you tell that I love her a little bit? ?

When I first saw the promo images for her lipstick collaboration with MAC, I knew I had to order it as soon as it was released! Von Teese, an online exclusive, is meant to celebrate the launch of Dita’s new book titled Your Beauty Mark. Guess what’s also next on my reading list?

As promised, today I present to you MAC & Ellie Goulding’s Blush/Bronzer duo in Hold My Breath!

After seeing all the beautiful promo work for this collection, as well as the glowing sneak peak reviews from other bloggers, I knew this was a must-have. Attention to detail is apparent in this piece as well, with the EG logo embossed on the powder.

MAC Ellie Goulding – the Lipsticks

image

Dear MAC: count me in for all of your limited edition packaging, forever.

You guys, I’m not even particularly fond of Ellie Goulding, but I can NOT say no to special packaging! Especially when it comes to lipsticks and blushes. So of course, I had to pick up the two lipsticks introduced with MAC’s Ellie Goulding collection that came out right before Christmas. I’m not ashamed of my addiction!

As usual, let’s talk about packaging first. I love the color scheme and logo created here! My favorite aspect has to be the etched lipstick. MAC put some real tender care in this collection! The love shows in those little perfect details ❤️

The lighter of the two shades is called Without Your Love, and has a cremesheen finish. I found it to be a light, warm pink that ran pretty sheer. Personally, I’m all about color like this, as I tend to focus heavier makeup on my eyes and like to balance with a soft, neutral lip. Because of the sheer, glossy nature of this lipstick, it wears for only a couple of hours or so before fading completely. Something I always tell my clients though, is that makeup isn’t meant to be a tattoo- it’s okay if you have to reapply!

Only You is also a cremesheen, and is described on MAC’s website as a “muted mid-tone coral” which I think is just about perfect. It’s not too orange or pink, and has enough color in it to complement an everyday eye look. I also found this shade to be more pigmented than Without Your Love, which gave it a longer wear time as well (about 3-4 hours).

Of course I picked up the blush/bronzer too, so you’ll be able to read all about it in my next post ☺️ After that, I only have one more holiday product to talk about (plus December’s Play! Box) and then it’s on to Spring 2016 makeup! I’m so excited to share the products I’ve been trying with you. Please stay tuned for all the iridescent/pastel makeup love that will be coming your way soon!

MAC Warm Neutrals x15

image

Last night, I reviewed MAC’s Cool Neutral 15 pan palette, so today I want to share the warm version with you!

I’ll say right off the bat that I like this version better. I feel like the pigment is stronger and provides better color payoff, and overall texture is just way smoother.

Because of the color quality and warmth of the shades, I think this is a much better addition to a professional kit. The colors work for a much broader skin tone range, especially for clients with deeper skin that may not be partial to the cool palette. It also makes a fantastic pairing with blue eyes, since orange and blue are complimentary colors.

A couple of the finer points about these palettes in general is that they’re an excellent value, and provide a great way to add a lot of MAC to your collection at once if you’re newer to the brand.

Don’t worry – I won’t judge you if you buy both ☺️
