Hey, you! Hope you had a great weekend and that Monday wasn’t too unkind.
Roll call! Step inside my clubhouse so that I can tell you all about the Minnie Mouse x Sephora collaboration that happened this Spring!
Disclaimer: Of the products you see above, the Disney Minnie Beauty lipstick and cream lip stain set are still available on Sephora’s website, but the blush and bag (which was a 250-point perk) are not. Still, I’m positive they can be tracked down (:
I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging. Instead of the cheap, silver plastic that came with the Hello Kitty collection a few years ago, Minnie Mouse gets a gold and black polka dot design with metal casing. I love it!
The collection was actually pretty extensive, and included an eyeshadow palette, lip stain set, brush set, liner set, lipstick, blush, and compact mirror. I decided to pick up the items above because – hello – look at that lipstick! And I can never say no to a good blush. Plus, I love Sephora’s lip stains, and these 5 together were a great deal!
The lipstick is my favorite, so let’s talk about Perfect Red first. As stated before, the packaging is of great quality, and the heaviness to it makes it feel more luxe. And look at that little charm on the box! I wish it were somehow attached to the lipstick itself, instead of the throwaway box, but I thought it was a cute touch nonetheless. Do you see that Minnie stamped on top of the lipstick itself? It’s adorable, but I was so sad after I first swatched it, because it disappeared pretty much right away. Minnie’s autograph is also engraved into the side of the lipstick though, and that’ll last much longer.
This is a super wearable, classic blue-based red. It’s very pigmented and wears for quite a long time before fading, though its satin finish keeps it comfortable. Since it isn’t matte, it will have some transfer, but it packs enough of a color punch to keep it from becoming patchy. For only $15, this one is a steal!
Since we’re already talking about lips, we should probably talk about the best deal EVER, which is the Minnie-ature Cream Lip Stain Set. Kudos to whoever named that one! I already love these lip stains, and thought it was kind of cool that each color (African Violet, Mandarin Muse, Always Red, Whipped Blush, and Peach Tart) is available as part of Sephora’s permanent line.
On the other hand, some of the color choices were questionable to me, and I feel like Mandarin and Peach in particular didn’t really evoke the image of Minnie for me. Always Red was a perfect choice though, and African Violet is just beautiful. Whipped Blush, however, is kind of a disaster. It really does feel whipped to me, but the texture (as you can see above) is also inconsistent. It is a seriously great deal though! Full size Cream Lip Stains are .169 oz and $14 each, but each of these minis is .1 oz with the set priced at only $26 for all 5. You know how I love my budget-friendly luxury beauty buys! Also worth mentioning is that these stains come in a cute reusable, collectible tin.
Minnie’s Inner Glow Luminizer Blush ($22, when it was still available) is a pretty, subtle peachy gold blush. Let’s just say this: emphasis on the ‘subtle’. When you layer it enough, it is very nice, but I can’t imagine most people being able to pull this off as a blush. As a peachy highlighter? Absolutely! But, it is a little powdery, so it still may go chalky on deeper skin tones. The Minnie silhouette embossed on the powder is so cute though! It was nice to see so much detail go into this collaboration.
As for the bag, well.. I honestly don’t know what happened to it! I go to photograph it, and it’s all wrinkly and had random makeup splotches, and I don’t think I’ve even used it yet! Thankfully, I’m a laundry queen and can lift makeup stains out of practically anything (:
I hope you enjoyed hearing about this collection! If you’re a Disney lover, like many of us, you’ve gotta order some of these pieces (*cough cough* the lip products) before they’re gone for good!
