Do you have a case of the Mondays? Let me cheer you up with a recap of a couple of the MAC x Brooke Candy collection lipsticks that launched earlier this summer!
“Candy is my name, but there’s nothing sweet about me!” – This lyric from the club rapper’s hit song ‘Das Me’ is evidenced in her collaboration with MAC. The packaging is edgy, the colors are unexpected, and the products are befitting of anyone from a neighborhood trap queen, to a demure girl-next-door.
Whirl, the neutral mocha, is actually a permanent shade in MAC’s range. I’ve wanted to add it to my collection for quite awhile, so getting it in special packaging was amazing! Last year, I tried the coordinating Whirl lipliner and was NOT impressed, but I love the lipstick! It’s opaque and chic, and gives me that 90’s vibe I was too young to pull off in the actual 90’s.
Witching Hour was limited edition and not a re-promote, but good news! This one is still available from MAC’s website for $18. It’s a bold (but not bright) purple that really looks vampy when applied. It takes a couple of layers to get it to be opaque, but it’s totally worth it! Wearing it makes me instantly feel like a Brooke Candy Badass, and the depth and coolness of the shade evokes thoughts of winter to distract from the blistering Texas heat.
While both Whirl and Witching Hour are matte, they apply easily and leave a demi-matte, non-drying finish that lasts for hours with minimal fading.
Whew! I’ve been talking about so many lipsticks lately that I’m thinking I’ll have to rebrand myself as lipsticksbyleann! Just kidding, of course, but there are more lippies where these came from. Have you peeped the Chris Chang x MAC collaboration yet? Tomorrow, I’ll share some details about the piece I purchased from the collection. See you soon!
