Happy National Lipstick Day, loves! Little makes me happier than a perfect lippie. A swipe of color can make you feel confident, pulled together, and elevate a look like no other accessory can!

Today, let’s discuss Gerard Cosmetics’ lipstick in London Fog. I’ve been holding on to this baby for quite awhile! If you remember (or just want a refresher), I reviewed Gerard’s Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick awhile back, and had nothing but good to say about it. Unfortunately, that’s not quite the case with London Fog, but it does have both pros and cons to consider before purchase:

If you’ve been eyeballing grey lipsticks lately, but haven’t yet taken the plunge, London Fog could be right up your alley. It’s the shy younger sister of its rich matte counterparts. As you can tell from the photos above, it’s shiny and conditioning, and sheer enough to make it very wearable. Who says brown has to be the power neutral these days? It had its moment in the limelight in the 90’s; it’s time to let grey shine!

On the other hand, if you’re a lip color connoisseur, you may be put off by the amount of layers it takes to achieve opacity with London Fog. This is a color for a beauty novice, not a beauty guru. Normally, I don’t like lining my lips for lip swatches. I feel like it takes away from the authenticity of the color depicted, but it London’s case, I had no choice. The sheer formula (sometimes patchy) made it impossible for me to get a defined lip line, so the photo you see above has me using Make Up For Ever’s 0L eyeliner to give myself some definition.

If you want to give yourself a break from the normal rotation of pinks and nudes, absolutely give London Fog a try! It’s available from Gerard Cosmetics for $19. If you’re a makeup maven and not a fan of sheer statement colors, hold tight for my next review, because I may have a better alternative coming up!
