If you’re over the Lip Kit reviews, I have something new to share with you today! MAC X Zac Posen launched February 25th, and I made sure to pick up a couple items to share with you guys. They’re still lip colors, but hey, at least it’s something different!

Zac Posen is a household name, especially in the fashion world. His style contributions are beloved by many, and now the fashion icon has teamed up with cosmetics powerhouse MAC to create his own namesake collection!

I will say, when I initially found out about the Posen collaboration, I was wayyyyy more excited than I was when I saw the final product selection. The collection includes 3 lipsticks, 2 brushes, an eyeshadow palette, a liquid liner, a translucent powder, and a blush/bronzer duo, all in special packaging. Unfortunately, beyond the couple of lipsticks I grabbed ($18 each), nothing really wowed me.

I thought about picking up the blush/bronzer, called Haute Contour, but it looked a little too warm.. and we all know how I feel about uneven pan size. So let’s get down to business, and talk about the stars of the collection – Darling Clementine and Dangerously Red!

First and foremost, the packaging: Instead of the traditional bullet shape, these lippies are housed in a rectangular grey/black case, with ZAC POSEN emblazoned across the side. I love it! They’re chic and fashionable, and totally perfect for the label whore deep within us all.

So, have you ever heard of the Dry Valleys in Antarctica? It’s the driest place on Earth, with an average annual rainfall of zero.

And still, when I did my lip swatches last night, my lips were drier.

That’s why my lip swatch of Darling Clementine is so, so awful. I sincerely apologize, but I just had to slather my lips in lip balm before applying a matte lipstick.

The good news here is that you can still see the opacity in the swatch on my hand. Darling Clementine basically has the same texture and color coverage that you see in my lip swatch of Dangerously Red.

Oh my darlin’, oh my darlin’, oh my darlin’ Clementine! Clementine is a bright, fiery orange. It’s intense, but super wearable since it doesn’t run into neon territory. This shade screams summer, and will look perfect paired with sandals and a sundress, or shorts and a button-down.

Dangerously Red is dangerously sexy, but falls a little short on the ‘red’ part. It’s described as a fuchsia, but to me just looks hot pink (no purple present, if you’re wondering what the difference is). It’s so pretty, though! It applied much more smoothly than some MAC mattes can, and wore evenly.

Both were swatched together (sans lip balm) in the ombre lip look – Dangerously Red all over, and Darling Clementine blended into the center. I’m just obsessed with these two together! I can see myself in this combo all spring.

Thanks for reading! Did you pick up anything from this collection? What were your favorite pieces?
