Guerlain’s Carousel Meteorites are a Magical Ride

After the way I gushed about Guerlain’s Holiday Meteorites, you can probably tell how obsessed I am with them. I did, after all, mention that I collect them, and I have to say that my collection is growing quite nicely!

What’s not to love about meteorites? Let’s be real – there’s nothing more luxurious than using a product that incorporates ‘Stardust Technology’ into its formula!

What is Stardust Technology? The brand says that it’s a pigment encapsulating a diamond powder. Knowing that, it’s almost easy to justify the price point! ?

Not to mention, each meteorite Pearl is hand-formed, and only four people in the world know how to make them.

Meteorites aren’t just makeup, they’re little collectible pieces of luxury, meant to adorn a counter or vanity like the fine art they are.

Now that I’ve waxed poetic about them enough, let’s discuss the latest iteration: Guerlain Carousel Meteorites Pearls for Summer 2016!

Chieseled to Perfection with Anastasia Cream Contour Kits

image

This contouring trend has been on a roll for a few years now, showing no signs of stopping. No matter how many professional makeup artists tell us it’s not a technique meant for everyday makeup, we’re not gonna listen, are we?

Because of this ‘more is more’ mentality that we see with each new contouring mini-tutorial on Instagram, I want to at least set the record straight when it comes to proper cream contouring technique.

Unless you’re a beauty guru and travel around with your lighting system, high-tech camera and photo/video editing technology on you at all times, chances are that you find it hard to translate the tutorials you see on YouTube into real life application. This is because when you step out of the perfect ambiance of a beauty ring light and into real-life, no-secrets daylight, you find that heavy cream contouring or using two foundation shades to sculpt your skin is not the most flattering application of makeup.

Fortunately, Anastasia’s Cream Contour Kits make shaping the face a breeze!

Just Call Me Kylie!

image

I’ve made pretty clear in the past my love for Kylie Jenner’s lips and for over lining my own. I’m just obsessed with the look of full, voluptuous lips! So, with an impending wedding, I decided to take the plunge!

Say hello to my new voluminous pucker ?

Working in the makeup industry, I talk to women about their physical insecurities for a living. You would be SHOCKED to know how many women have had some kind of work done – dermal fillers, Botox, nips and tucks. Yet, there’s such a taboo about it – if you don’t believe me, take a look at my last Instagram (@lovelybyleann) post, and see how much a stranger’s before and after pictures bothered some of my commenters! One user even screen shot my post and shared it on her own account to shame me:

image

This user even went as far as to create TWO more fake accounts to harass me after I blocked her! It blows my mind. Where are your parents, young lady?

Anyway, my point is that you should never feel ashamed to express yourself, whether it’s with a tattoo, piercing, cosmetic enhancement, or simply by being 100% natural. I know fillers aren’t for everyone, so if you’re totally against them, no need to read on. Just join us back here tomorrow for your regularly scheduled makeup post!

If you have been thinking about them, or are just curious about the process, read on for my experience thus far ☺️

What Makes You Smile?

image

As you all know from my glowing review of Guerlain’s Holiday Meteorites, I’m a little obsessed with the brand. I won’t go into the extent of my Guerlain makeup collection, but suffice it to say, I have issues.

So, though I tried as hard as I could to the resist its beckon for the last couple of months, I couldn’t pass this lovely blush up when I went to Dillard’s and saw that there was ONE of these left!

Now, another blush has found its forever home on my vanity ☺️. What makes this packaging stand out from all the bronzers and shimmer products I have from this line is that gorgeous red packaging! So shiny and luxe and bold. I can’t stop looking at it! The name is even pretty: Rose Aux Joues Smile Blush Duo.

Once opened, the blush emits that familiar Guerlain sugary violet scent. I could smell that forever, my friends! It’s light, but still sweetly intoxicating, and it smells just like luxury.

The compact includes a small flat brush beside the blush duo. Each shade has a subtle, almost duo-chrome shimmery finish that makes cheeks super glowy. The left is a warm hot pink, and the right is bright and bubble-gummy, but of course they look best swirled together as a cherry blossom pink.

If you know me by now, you already know my favorite feature of this product though: the embossed ‘SMILE’ that graces the powder’s surface. I love how this friendly reminder makes me feel when I see it each time I open the compact. It literally makes me smile! And you know that’s always the best way to apply blush perfectly on the apples of your cheeks (:

Thanks for reading! If you’ve been eyeballing Guerlain’s Summer Meteorites, they’re currently in transit to me! Be looking out for that review soon ?

Sephora Play! February Box

You know the drill! Now that I’ve had a whole month to test out the Sephora Play! box from February, it’s time to share my findings with you all.

I’m quite excited about what February had to offer, (and looking forward to my March box, but hello.. it’s the 21st – why isn’t it here already?) and had lots of fun playing with the unusual amount of color products in this month’s curation.

Let’s start with the Tom Ford Black Orchid fragrance and work clockwise, shall we?

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit – 22

Good evening! Or morning, depending on where you are in the world. (:

A lot of my readers come from the US, but the vast majority of both my stateside and overseas readers are not from Texas.

To give you the scoop – growing up in Texas, sometime around elementary school or junior high, you’re grouped into a very important distinction of one of two categories – you’re either a Longhorn, or you’re an Aggie.

Don’t care about football? Oh well. Planning on going to a college other than the University of Texas or A&M? So what. Never even been to Austin or College Station? Doesn’t matter!

In case you’re wondering, I give roughly zero f*cks about football, but since my 7th grade crush was a Longhorns fan, I was too! I had lots of UT gear and several burnt orange shirts for school spirit days, where all you saw was a sea of that and Aggie maroon.

The first thing I thought when I saw 22 on my lips was, damn! Middle school LeAnn would’ve killed for this color!

This evening, I sat down to write a review of February’s Play! box, when I realized that I promised you all a review of this highlighting stick during last month’s Play! review. Now, I shall deliver!

Chubby Sticks are a family of products made by Clinique that come in the form of – you guessed it – chubby sticks. The range includes lipsticks, eyeshadows, a foundation, and new for Spring, contour and highlighter sticks! I have the latter to share with you all today.

Hey, lovely reader! Come join me on another trip to Dior’s Glowing Gardens.. You might remember that we visited back in January with Glowing Pink, but this time, we’ll be in the Nude!

That’s right, I’m talking about the other highlighter released as part of Dior’s Spring 2016 collection, called Glowing Nude.

Disclaimer: I normally hate taking photos with flash, but I had to for the sake of those sparkles on the cover of the glow palette! Sorry for the poor quality (:

Slowly, more and more pieces of Anastasia Beverly Hills are starting to trickle into Sephora. I plan on snatching them up one by one! And I started with the new(ish) Glow Kit in Gleam.

You know, I think someone should start a rehab program for highlighter addicts. I’ve got it bad, and this palette is like crack for me!
