MAC New-to-Me Classics

I posted a teaser on Instagram earlier, and now here’s the real thing!

Instead of talking about Spring newness tonight, I want to share with you some of my newly discovered MAC classics! The shades you see here are lipsticks Angel and Snob, and lip liner in Whirl.

First of all, why didn’t I already own these?! The short answer is that I sometimes get so obsessed with collecting everything that’s limited edition, that my focus stays shifted away from permanent products that are always readily available.

Finally, sometime last month I found myself perusing a MAC counter and thought I’d grab them to see if they were truly staples.

Angel is almost everything I’ve ever wanted in a lipstick! I could literally throat punch myself for all the years wasted without this in my collection, but we’re trying to just move past it and enjoy the time we have together now.

This color is a sheer nude pink that complements basically everything. It works perfectly when you spent 2 trillion years on your badass smoky eye, and don’t want to distract from it with a bold lip, but also feels that it deserves more of a compliment than a swipe of balm. This, if you can’t tell, is one of my biggest struggles, and I’m SO THRILLED that Angel has solved such a long-running makeup issue!

It’s not nude enough to wash you out, not pink enough to throw off the rest of your look, and wears comfortably for a few hours before you need to reapply – perfection.

I often glean inspiration from things I see other bloggers or Instagrammers raving about, and Snob is a color that seems to come up time and time again. Wearing it just makes me feel like a Barbie doll! The light (but bright) pink works well with all kinds of cool-toned eye looks, and wears hours longer than I expected. It also helps to enhance or fake a tan, which reminds me of my bronzy fake-baking teenage years, but without any of the guilt afterward!

And, while much of the country is facing crazy cold temps and insane blizzards, Texas is gearing up for highs in the 80’s this week. You may be jealous, but I LOVE the cold – and Snob is the only thing helping me embrace the warmth when I just wanna be wearing chunky scarves.

Usually, we save the best for last.. But not in this case. “Womp womp wompppp,” is about all I can say when it comes to Whirl. This was my first foray into MAC lip liners, (I’ve always liked Urban Decay’s and Make Up For Ever’s versions) and you can count me highly disappointed.

I mean, if Kylie Jenner loves it, why can’t I?! It may be shameful to admit as a grown woman, but Kylie’s lips are bomb, and if she swears by a product, I’m gonna give it a go.

As you can tell from the swatch, it’s patchy, dry, and requires a ton of pressure to even get it to go on at all! Certainly not the smooth, even application I expected. I also picked up Nightmoth liner on that shopping trip, but haven’t even tried it yet after my bad experience with Whirl.

What do you think about these products? Have you tried any before? Are they staples or passes for you? I’d love to hear your feedback!
